ROKKON GUEST HOUSE

We discovered the world of fair trade soap and
were inspired to start our small inn
in the early summer of 2020.

We provide naturally grown vegetables and room amenities like organic cotton sheets and pajamas (also available at our sister store) to help make your stay a peaceful one. Centrally located in Kyoto in the relaxing neighborhood of Kamanza Street, our inn offers a lodging experience that is special and wholesome.

concept

Stay with us as if our inn is your home.
At Rokkon Guest House, we make the connection between one’s joy
and happiness in life and someone else’s livelihood--whether it is the link
between your morning cup of coffee and a coffee bean or
between the reading light at bedtime and the light’s energy source.

fairtrade amenity

Lodging facility rewards both makers and users.

Our facility satisfies stringent fair trade standards. We serve homemade breakfast using locally grown organic vegetables. Our beautiful and wholesome living space is constructed with Kitayama Sugi (cedar) stained with natural dye.

renewable energy

Locally sourced, environmentally friendly energy

Rokkon Guest House gets its electricity from Minna Denryoku, an energy company that uses 100% renewable, feed-in tariff (FIT) energy such as solar, wind and biomass and does not use electricity from nuclear power plants.

kitayama cedars, hinoki

Freshly harvested, fertilizer-free, pesticide-free, and compost-free vegetables

We serve delicious breakfast using fresh vegetables and rice from Potton Farm (Kameoka-shi, Kyoto) and Yasei-Seikatsu (Keihoku-cho, Kyoto). Our menu can cater to vegetarians, vegans and guests with food allergies.

rooms

1f
moon

Living space generously furnished with Kyoto Kitayama Sugi (cedar) and private moss and fern garden

The first floor spoils you with soft Kitayama cedar floors, living space using natural colors like indigo and charred wood (yakisugi) and a private bath that looks into a garden. Your stay will be cozy all year round: light a pellet stove--fueled with wood from trees cleared in forest thinning--on a chilly day and cool off on the porch on a summer night.
